Mike Joyner
Turkey Hunting Specialist and Author

Mike Joyner is a storyteller, outdoorsman, and dedicated turkey hunter whose work is shaped by decades spent chasing longbeards across the ridges and hollows of upstate New York and across the United States.
He began deer hunting with a bow, and small game back in 1985. It wasn’t until he heard the massive gobbling of a flock of gobblers disrupted and scattered by incoming deer hunters one very cold morning during late deer season that gave cause to pursue the wiley wild turkey. Since then, Mike has pursued his favorite game bird in 17 states, achieving two wild turkey grand slams, and a top twenty NWTF scoring gobbler in his home state of NY.
The author of multiple books on turkey hunting, outdoor heritage, medical survival, and personal conservative narrative, Joyner has earned recognition for his clear, friendly, and grounded voice and his ability to turn real-world experiences into inspiring and engaging storytelling.
His works include;
Hills of Truxton: Stories and Travels of a Turkey Hunter
Tales from the Turkey Woods: Mornings of My Better Days
Grand Days in the Turkey Woods
A Walk In The Turkey Woods- Wandering Thoughts and Revelations
A seasoned hunter with a deep respect for wild turkeys and the traditions surrounding them, Joyner writes from decades of his time in the turkey woods, of the people who share their time among the great forests, and of the quiet truths learned from seasons spent in pursuit of gobblers. His work has earned awards for outdoor writing, photography, and contributions to turkey‑hunting culture, reflecting his passion and his love of the turkey woods.
Beyond his writing, Joyner is a senior PCB and Image Sensor engineer whose analytical mindset and problem-solving shape the clarity of his storytelling. Off the clock, he is a content creator with a passion for capturing the spirit of turkey hunting through his books, blog, and photography. His creative work weaves together hunting, heritage, and the wild places he is so drawn to.
He lives and creates in upstate New York, where he continues to write, hunt, cook, design, and keep the traditions of turkey hunting alive- one sunrise, one gobble, one story at a time. Joyner will have copies of all his Turkey Hunting books available for sale/signing.
